The IP address of the router should be entered into the address line of your browser.

The default user name is root. The default password is also root.

Yes. The OPEN 501R ADSL router has passed and complies with Telstra's IP1149 specification for interoperability of CPE with the Telstra ADSL network.

VPI is 8, VCI is 35. This is entered under MAIN/QC/VC/VC1 as 8/35

The 501R will work best with Telstra DSLAMs when set to "ANSI (full rate)". Request DSLAMs only support G.DMT

Both PPP over Ethernet LLC/SNAP encapsulation and PPP over ATM VCMUX encapsulation are in use in Australia. You should consult your ADSL provider for the correct type to use on your connection.

There are a number of Internet Service Providers (ISP) able to offer ADSL service in Australia. Please check with your local ISP or existing ISP if they can provide an ADSL account. Your ISP will provide you with a user name and password.

VPI is 0, VCI is 100. This is entered under MAIN/QC/VC/VC1 as 0/100

Telecom New Zealand uses G.992.1, G.DMT or ANSI T1.413 Issue 2, but not G.Lite or G.992.2

Protocol should be set to PPP over ATM. VC MUX encapsulation should be used.
