501R
Firmware release 2.45OM.4
The latest
firmware release for the 501R is 2.45OM.4. This release includes fixes to
the PPP operation to improve stability on the Telstra network.
When
upgrading from firmware 2.45OM.2 or 2.45OM.3 there is no configuration
translation required. If you are upgrading from firmware version 2.40 or
2.42O.3 then you should use the software upgrade tool
to perform the configuration translation. You will then need to upgrade to
2.45OM.4.
Installation instructions

Download the
soho2.45OM.4_3 firmware.

Set up a
TFTP server on your computer in the same way as described in the
501R Configuration Backup and Restore application note. Make sure that
the TFTP server base directory contains the soho245om.4_3-930.crz firmware
file.

In the MAIN/UTIL/TFTP
menu, enter the IP address of your TFTP server, the soho245om.4_3-930.crz
filename and select Download and Firmware, as below:

Control-S to start the transfer.

upgrade to the new firmware.

Reboot the
router.
Software
upgrade tool
This tool
allows the 501R to be upgraded from firmware versions 2.40 and 2.42O.3 to
2.45OM.3. This may be done remotely via the ATM interface or locally via the
LAN interface of the 501R.
During the
upgrade the configuration file format is translated to the new format used
by 2.45OM.3. When upgrading from firmware 2.40, the kernel is also upgraded
to enable the packet filter functions.
Note: the
tool will run on Windows 98SE and Windows 2000, but does not run on Windows
XP.
Installation instructions

Download the
software upgrade tool.

Unzip the
file to a directory on your PC.

Before
starting the tool, close down any TFTP servers you may have running on the
PC, and log out of the 501R

Run the tool
by double clicking on the
501R-raug-2.40&2.42o3-2.45om.3.exe
file.
Follow
the instructions provided.
You
will now have firmware version 2.45OM.3, follow the previous instructions to
upgrade to 2.4OM.4
