Melbourne, August 17, 2006 - OPEN Networks, a leading provider of broadband hardware and software solutions for the home and office, has been selected by Australian broadband innovator Internode to provide Annex M modem/routers and logistical support as part of Internode‘s national Annex M trial.
Commenting on the deal, OPEN Networks‘ managing director, Derek Campbell said: "OPEN Networks is one of the first broadband equipment companies to bring to market ADSL2+ Annex M capable modem/router products and we are very happy to be partnering with Internode for Annex M trials."
OPEN Networks 624W and 634 modem/routers represent the next leap in broadband modem technology and enable business and residential broadband users to take full advantage of high-speed bi-directional services.
Annex M enhances the basic existing ADSL2+ standard by significantly increasing upload speeds to more than 2Mb/s. Since announcing the Annex M trials two weeks ago, Internode has been flooded with enquiries about the service, as Simon Hackett, Internode‘s managing director explains: "The customer response to our Annex M trials has exceeded our expectations and we are now over-subscribed. We have had applications from a variety of business customers who are extremely keen to be at the forefront of this new development."
"OPEN Networks‘ modem range was chosen following rigorous testing and joint development to ensure the products met with our strict technical requirements, including support for Annex M," said Mr Hackett, adding: "As an Australian company, OPEN Networks ability to offer timely, local logistical and product support, as well as fast turnaround on product enhancements were also key factors behind adding the company to our preferred supplier list."
