iConnectWLAN Automated Wireless LAN Installation

iConnectWLAN Automated Installation and Service Management software resolves the issues preventing WLAN installation and does so with virtually no input required from the customer.

iConnectWLAN transparently handles the many issues associated with the set-up and configuration of secure residential wireless LAN networks, automatically configures security and confirms this to the customer for “Peace of Mind.”

Configuration of the Wireless Hardware

iConnectWLAN supports wireless hardware already installed in the user’s computer.

• If the computer does not have any wireless hardware or capability, iConnectWLAN assists the user install the OPEN303W USB wireless adapter.
• For Windows XP users, a wide variety of WLAN adapters currently available on the market are supported.
• For Windows 2000 users, the OPEN303W USB wireless adapter is supported.
• iConnectWLAN loads the required drivers and provides diagrams and instructions for the user to connect the hardware.

Detection and Set-up of the Router

iConnectWLAN uses the computer’s wireless hardware to search for the wireless network broadcast by the iConnectAccess624W router.

If the router is not found, iConnectWLAN provides instructions to assist the user in plugging in the power and phone-line cables.

iConnectWLAN also installs the iConnectAccess624W.

WLAN Security

When the iConnectAccess624W is successfully installed, iConnectWLAN configures the security settings on the wireless network, including settings in both the computer’s wireless hardware and the iConnectAccess624W.

iConnectWLAN sets a unique wireless network name (SSID) and sets WEP encryption with a 128-bit security key.

DSL

iConnectWLAN also configures the DSL connection including:

• Verify the user’s computer configuration meets minimum hardware and operating system specification.
• Configure the user’s computer network access with ISP settings.
• Configure the local network settings including IP address, subnet mask and DHCP.
• Configure the WAN interface to the required ISP settings.
• Test the connection to the ISP.
• Configure the standard web browser with ISP settings (e.g. home page, proxy settings).
• Configure system email application with the ISP’s POP and SMTP settings.
